                                                   Aristotle's Contributions

Aristarchus's heliocentric theory and Galileo's destruction of Aristotle's mechanics obliterated the greater status of Aristotle. His traditions and place as luminary guided science through the ages.  In order for science to progress in the Enlightenment his contributions became grayed out, so that physics and astronomy could be newly founded.
